Privacy Policy for Storymood
Effective date: September 2026
Storymood (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a social app for sharing shayari, quotes, status and written feelings in Indian languages. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Storymood is for people aged 18 and over. By signing in to Storymood, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
a) Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo to create and secure your account. We also record when you confirmed that you are 18 or older.
b) Profile and content. The username, bio and photo you choose; posts (shayari, quotes, text); images you create or upload, including photos you pick from your phone; comments, replies, likes, follows, saved (bookmarked) posts, accounts you block, and reports you make.
c) Magic AI. When you use Magic AI to create a background picture, the text of your post is sent to our server and to an AI service provider to create the picture. See section 4.
d) Automatically collected data. Through Google Firebase Analytics: how you use the app (for example, which screens and features you use), device model, operating system, app version, language, an app-instance identifier and your device’s advertising ID. Through Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports with device details and your account ID. We also count how many times each post is viewed and for how long, as a total for the post, not per person.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create your account and let you sign in.
- To publish and display your posts, profile and interactions to other users.
- To run features such as the feed, Explore, likes, comments, follows, saved posts, search, image creation and Magic AI.
- To show you notifications inside the app when someone likes or comments on your post, or follows you.
- To keep the community safe, review reports and enforce our community rules.
- To understand how the app is used, fix errors and improve Storymood.
3. How Your Information Is Shared
a) With other users. Storymood is a public social platform. Other signed-in users can see your profile: your display name, username, profile photo, bio, verified badge, and who you follow and who follows you. The posts and comments you publish, with your display name and photo, are visible to everyone, including people who are not signed in. Your email address, saved posts and blocked accounts are private and never shown to other users.
b) Publicly on the web. When a post is shared out of the
app, it is published at a public web address such as
storymood.in/p/…. That page shows the post and the display name of
its author and can be opened by anyone with the link. We ask search engines not
to list these pages, so they should not appear in search results. Only posts
approved by moderation are published this way. Deleting a post removes its page
within a few minutes.
c) With our moderators. Storymood’s moderators can see reported content, your account details including your email address, and any action taken on your account. They use this only to review reports and enforce our rules.
d) With service providers. We use trusted companies to run Storymood. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Analytics and Crashlytics) and Google Sign-In: your account, content, app usage and crash reports.
- A cloud hosting provider that runs our website and servers.
- An AI service provider that receives only the text you ask Magic AI to illustrate, never your name or account, to create the picture.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the fonts used in images, and Google Play, for in-app reviews and updates.
Some of these providers process data on servers outside India.
e) For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Magic AI
Magic AI creates a background picture from the text of your post. When you use it:
- Your text is sent to our server and then to an AI service provider. Your name and account are not sent to the AI service provider.
- If you post the picture, a short description of your text and of the picture is saved with the post, so it can be edited later.
- We count how many Magic AI pictures you create each day, to apply the daily limit. Each count holds only your account ID, the date and the number. These counts are kept even if you delete your account, so that the limit cannot be reset.
- Text you do not post may appear briefly in our server logs, which are deleted automatically within a few days.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your account and content are stored on Google Cloud / Firebase servers and are transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. Some settings are kept only on your phone: your chosen language and theme, your recent searches, and cached figures shown in the app. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. User-Generated Content & Community Rules
Storymood is a community platform. You are responsible for the content you post. The following are not allowed:
- Abusive, hateful, violent or discriminatory content.
- Explicit, sexual or otherwise inappropriate material.
- Spam, harassment, or infringing someone else’s copyright.
Every post can be reported using the “Report” option. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules. We aim to act on objectionable content promptly.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & correct: You can view and edit your profile and your posts at any time in the app. You can also ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Delete content: You can delete your posts at any time.
- Delete account: “Delete Account” in Profile settings asks you to confirm with Google, then immediately removes your sign-in, your profile and photo, your email address, saved posts, blocked accounts and notifications, and removes you from the followers of the accounts you follow. Posts, comments and images you created stay published; to have those removed as well, email us and we will do it within 30 days. See Delete your account.
- Withdraw consent: You can stop using Storymood and delete your account at any time.
- Advertising ID: You can reset or delete your device’s advertising ID in your phone’s settings.
- Notifications: Storymood shows notifications only inside the app. It does not currently send push notifications to your phone.

8. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, the data listed in section 7 is removed straight away. Content you created is removed on request by email, within 30 days. Your username stays reserved so nobody else can take it, unless you ask us to release it. Daily Magic AI counts are kept, as described in section 4. Moderation records, including reports and actions taken on accounts, are deleted 12 months after they are made or resolved. Crash reports and analytics data are kept by Google for a limited period. Some information may remain in backups for a short time, or longer where the law requires it.
9. Children’s Privacy
Storymood is only for people aged 18 and over. When you sign in, you confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe someone under 18 is using Storymood, please contact us and we will act promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Storymood after changes means you accept the updated Policy.

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, including the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Grievance Officer for Storymood is:
